Their factory in Neudau (Austria) was opened in 2019. They have brought they machines up to the latest technological standards and comply with the strictest quality standards when it comes to raw materials, technologies, manufacturing processes, hygiene practices and working conditions.
How Cellulose Fibres Come About
PACKNATUR® netting products are made with LENZING™ Modal Color Cellulose Fibres, which meet all compostable sustainability criteria. These fibres are sourced and processed in a way that minimises environmental impact.
As the distributor of PACKNATUR®, Naturpac recognises the need to move beyond plastic, a material that has never allowed fresh fruits and vegetables to breathe properly. Our mission is to transition to compostable, recyclable, and biodegradable materials, all aimed at protecting our fossil resources. This commitment led VPZ to develop tube netting made from LENZING™ Modal cellulose fibre.
The raw material for PACKNATUR® Cellulose Tube Netting is sourced from local beechwood forests. Lenzing AG, an Austrian company, transforms this beechwood, which is sustainably recovered from forest thinning, into modal fibres through CO²-neutral processes that adhere to the strictest environmental standards.
These innovative fibres form the basis of PACKNATUR® Cellulose Tube Netting, which has been adopted by many leading international supermarket chains for years.
The breathable natural fruit netting keep consumers’ produce fresher for 2 or 3 days longer and prevents the premature sprouting of potatoes and onions. The fruit netting is soft to the touch and looks very natural.
PACKNATUR®’s Centre of Excellence for Textile Packaging continuously explores new applications and potential uses for their cellulose nets.
